Eid 2023
We learnt why Eid is celebrated and how it is celebrated all over the World.
The children learnt to say “Eid Mubarak” which is a common greeting given on this day, meaning “Happy Eid”.
Eid is celebrated in various ways and celebrations usually include visiting family and friends, special foods, prayers, new clothes, and gifts are given to those who are in need.
We had a visit from Mrs Murati who helped us to understand the importance of this religious festival. We talked about the month of Ramadan and “Eid” (being the word for celebration) and “Eid-al-Fitr” (which means the celebration of the break or end of fasting).
We created mendhi hands and helped decorate a moon and stars (the moon and star represent the beginning and end of Ramadan. The time between these two crescent moons, is when Muslims partake in this special celebration).
