Music
The teaching of music is based upon the fact that it is a creative and social art to be enjoyed and can support social, emotional and psychological development.
At Midfield Primary School, all pupils have the opportunity to enjoy musical experiences through listening, singing, dance and by playing instruments. Pupil's musical experiences have been broadened through music workshops and our Music Garden. The outdoor Music Garden is a bespoke area filled with a variety of tuned and untuned percussion, which our pupils use regularly throughout the course of the year.
Music is taught as part of the curriculum from Nursery to Year 6. At EYFS and KS1, children cover all areas of the National Curriculum through music and movement, using percussion and singing. At Key Stage 2, every child has the opportunity to play Ukulele and have class lessons for at least one term a year. This will enable each child to develop musicianship skills and advance in one instrument.
Choir have many opportunities to perform. Since September 2022, they have sung at The Glades in Bromley raising money for charity, and have performed at our annual Easter service.
